Energie Solaire, Moteur de développement du Burundi
Dans les collines reculées du Burundi, la lumière du soleil a changé la vie de milliers de personnes. Ce film raconte la transformation des communautés rurales grâce au projet SERR – UMUCO W’ITERAMBERE, qui a apporté l’électricité solaire dans les provinces de Cankuzo, Karusi, Kirundo, Makamba et Rutana. Autrefois plongés dans l’obscurité, les habitants parcouraient des kilomètres pour moudre leur maïs, étudier, ou accoucher dans des conditions précaires. Aujourd’hui, les moulins électriques tournent, les écoles s’équipent en salles informatiques, les maternités fonctionnent de nuit, et de nouvelles activités économiques voient le jour : couture, coiffure, commerce, et plus encore. Grâce à l’énergie solaire, les villages s’illuminent, la vie s’organise, et l’espoir renaît. Le film met en lumière les témoignages des bénéficiaires, la résilience des femmes et des jeunes, et l’impact durable d’un projet qui relie le soleil, la dignité et le développement.

Restoring land is never easy, but Perfect Village Communities (PVC), a community-owned social enterprise in Burundi, turns this challenge into opportunity. Rooted in agroforestry research and the use of local herbs as natural fertilizers and pesticides, PVC empowers farmers while healing the land. By producing and selling affordable organic inputs and high-quality seedlings, the organization creates income, restores ecosystems, and strengthens food security. Supported by TerraFund, a partnership of @WorldResourcesInstitute, @onetreeplanted, and @RealizeImpact, PVC shows how innovation and community action can grow both trees and hope.

Soil, Strength & Hope: This Burundi’s Communities Lead the Way to Healthy land!
At the edge of Nyungwe–Kibira Forest, a vital green corridor linking Rwanda and Burundi, a local community believes that hope drives transformation. In the shadow of Kibira National Park, home to rich biodiversity and the Batwa indigenous community, poverty and land degradation have threatened both nature and livelihoods. Yet hope remains. Through agroforestry, natural regeneration, and sustainable livelihoods, Communities of Hope is restoring the forest, protecting the Kaburantwa River basin, and supporting the Kabu 16 Hydropower Plant. In just three years, 36,000 community members have joined hands to plant 120,000 trees, renewing life across the Rusizi River basin.
Uvira’s Unsung Heroes 🌱 | Fighting to Restore the Land
Uvira, at the northern tip of Lake Tanganyika in the DRC, connects Burundi, Tanzania, and Zambia through trade and fishing. After decades of conflict that caused severe deforestation and soil degradation, communities—supported by Plant with Purpose and Ebenezer Ministry International—have united to restore their land. Through sustainable farming, savings groups, and reforestation, over 10,500 families have planted 4.3 million trees, turning devastation into renewal and hope.
